DEEPAWALI

Finally... the wait was over.
The Diwali season was here—my favorite one, and I hope yours too!

I was waiting for that day just like a bud waits for the flowering season to blossom or the sun waits for the morning to shine and spread fresh vibes to every corner of the world.

Everyone was in a good mood; there were happy faces everywhere. People could be seen with smiling hearts and beautiful traditional outfits. There were sweets and many other food items for the day.
Overall, it was the perfect package to be happy.

I received so many messages, heartwarming wishes, gifts, and much more. Every home was decorated beautifully. But the real essence of the festival was seen at night. Everyone had lit candles or diyas at their houses, and it looked wonderful. Indeed, this was the best scene of the whole year.

Like every year, we had many plans this Diwali too. Yes, we knew there was a ban on crackers, and we were not supposed to light them that night. Yet who cared? And so did we. We were like... it's okay, it's a matter of one night only, and nothing major can happen in one day.
But we were wrong, and I realized it when I met my neighbor. She came out when we were enjoying the firecrackers.

She is an old lady, about 65-70 years old. She is not like typical aunties; she never complains about anything, no matter what we are all doing (happily, she never cries over the lost understanding between the generations).
But she complained that day... the Diwali night. She said, "Hmare zamane mein bhi manate the Diwali, par aise nahi... jeena mushkil kar dete ho tum log toh... dar lagne laga hai Diwali se ab..." and then she went back to her house, surely not in a good mood!

We were stunned for some time.
Could there be someone who doesn't like this festival... Diwali?
We couldn't understand the reason behind her words. Some of you might be thinking that she must be a non-Hindu, and that's why she said this. But shockingly, you are wrong!

Now you must be thinking of the reason for this, as was I. Then we were able to find out when we went inside her home.
Actually, it was her dog who was the reason she hates this day and mainly the noise.
Her dog couldn't tolerate such a noisy environment. (Let me tell you, ALL ANIMALS AND OLD PEOPLE ARE MORE SENSITIVE TO SOUND/NOISE THAN YOUNGER PEOPLE).
He was so scared of the noise that he didn't come out of his small dog house even for his meal.
We felt so guilty, realizing what we were doing to this innocent creature unknowingly.
Besides the well-known fact of environmental harm, we also harm these beings.

Then we understood and accepted the fact that such enjoyment is not worthy.
After that, we came back home and enjoyed ourselves in other ways... we danced and played many games.
As we planned, we made this Diwali also a... HAPPY DIWALI.

Unfortunately, this is not the only Diwali when these innocents bear this fear. Nowadays, it has become a trend to make unwanted noise on almost every festival, which should be a topic to talk about. Let's not only wish for a happy festival but also try to make it happy for everyone.
The government has already banned firecrackers and late-night DJ events. Now it's time to boycott these at our own level...!!!

 THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
